Orthopaedic & Wellness in Roanoke & Salem, VA

We are a clinic that believes strongly in Integrative Medicine. With over 56 combined years of experience in healthcare, our clinicians firmly believe that traditional medicine does not necessarily produce better living. Although sometimes helpful and necessary, a pill or surgery does not always lead to health. We incorporate several non-surgical treatments into our practice because health issues are multi-faceted. We believe you must treat the person, not the symptoms. Many widespread clinical diagnoses such as depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and obesity are interconnected and can affect treatment outcomes. A healthy diet, vitamin supplementation, lifestyle choices, and avoidance of toxins can make a huge difference in one’s health and recovery.

Her approach to minimizing pain and the associated anxiety and depression is centered around excellent listening skills, multi-discipline collaboration and careful adjustments in treatment. “Most of the time, my patients show up having ‘tried everything’. Often, they don’t understand the effect that hormonal imbalances, nutrition, food sensitivities, toxins and inactivity can have on their pain and mood. I use ketamine as a powerful tool to reset the brain pathways that are not serving them well. Additionally, lifestyle changes, therapy, and involving other necessary disciplines of care will get the best response. Problems are always dynamic, and I understand that. My Philosophy is the greatest benefit with lowest risk, and we have some great tools in our belt here. My mission is simply to try my best to get people back to what they consider an enjoyable life.”

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Find the Answer

Ketamine is a synthetic medicine that has primarily been used as an anesthetic agent in humans and animals for over 50 years. It is one of the most commonly used anesthetic agents in the world because of its unique properties that make it incredibly safe to administer.

Ketamine binds to NMDA receptors and creates a glutamate surge, releasing growth factors that help make new synaptic connections in your brain. This paves the way for healthier thought patterns and increases your resilience to chronic stress.

The literature for depression shows a 70% success rate. Individual clinics have seen higher rates because they have seen increased efficacy with increased dosing.

The low doses used for depression are in the empathogenic "heart opening" psychedelic dose range. People report feelings of love, peace, compassion, forgiveness, and a touch of euphoria.

Ketamine will not be provided to individuals with schizophrenia, psychosis, or certain seizure disorders. Those taking aminophylline for asthma or COPD should not undergo ketamine infusions. If you have serious medical problems, like uncontrolled high blood pressure, cardiac disease, or pulmonary problems, a clearance will be requested from your primary care physician before undergoing treatment.
