Why Choose Ignite Wellness Clinic
We are the first clinic in the greater Roanoke area dedicated to providing this safe and effective therapy in a comfortable, welcoming setting. You will enjoy your therapy in a heated massage power recliner. We will always numb the area before we start your IV. And don’t worry, a fantastic experience with IV starts is a must for our providers. We will do our best to set the mood that makes you most comfortable in your private room. We want to help you feel better AND enjoy spending time with us! Sheila Farmer, CRNA has been delivering anesthesia for 22 years and is adept at administering Ketamine safely and effectively. She has also completed the Ketamine Academy Course. We are always following research and evolving practices so that your Ketamine Therapy has the best chance of helping you. Our mission at Ignite is to return you to your BEST LIVING. We all deserve to feel our best!
What Should You Expect?
Talk to your Doctor or Mental Health Provider to see if IV Ketamine Therapy is right for you (or we can speak with them for you). You can print a referral form here to take to your Doctor. You can also schedule a consultation. You’ll need an empty stomach, so generally, don’t eat or drink anything after midnight prior. You also need a responsible adult to drive you home. Your buddy is welcome to sit with you during your infusion if you want.
For treatment of Depression/Anxiety- Our current treatment plan is a series of six 40-minute infusions spread over a 2-3 week period. After that, you can schedule your infusions as needed. Antidepressant effects last an average of 2-3 weeks and have (in rare cases) lasted as many as 3 months.
If your Ketamine infusion is for the treatment of Chronic Pain, we will likely draw some labs a few days prior to your first appointment. Initially, you will have 5 consecutive days of 4-hour infusions, then every 6 months as needed.
When you arrive for your infusion we will get you comfortable, place some monitors and start your IV. During your ketamine infusion, you will receive a steady dose that produces light to moderate sedation. You will be able to respond to others. You may feel like you are in a dream-like state or that you are only “half-present”….. We will remain with you and gently talk to you at times. When your infusion is over, we will give you a snack and wait until you are ready to be safely discharged. When receiving anesthetic medications like ketamine, you cannot do things like drive or make important decisions, etc for 24 hours to be safe.
